Black Players for Change – an organization of MLS players dedicated to giving black players a voice and championing systemic change in the league and beyond – launched only a short time ago. Their 8 minutes and 46 seconds of silence – the amount of time Minnesota police pinned down George Floyd – was just one of multiple ways the players made their voices heard on the tournament’s opening evening.
